The Joy Of A Simple Baby Blanket
Look all around the world, and you are not likely to find a parent (either mother or father) who can honestly say they enjoyed listening to their newborn baby crying all day and night. The heart wrenching cries are too hard to listen to while the parental attachments are too deep to ignore the needs of a sweet, innocent baby so we, the adults, bgin bouncing, and then we try rocking which continues with walking the floors all night long. Fortunately, you are not out of options when rocking, holding, and swinging are not working to calm the baby; you can always reach for the nearest swaddle blanket, and wrap that baby up tight.
In the womb, a growing baby spends a full forty weeks feeling secure, warm, and comfortable in a tightly squeezed space. Swaddling your baby with a swaddle blanket can actually manufacture a similar environment for the baby outside the womb: secure, warm, comfortable, and tight. This helps to calm the newborn, who is still adjusting to life in the big world.
When choosing a swaddle blanket, look for ones that are 100% natural fiber, such as cotton. Receiving blankets will work for swaddling, too, as long as they are not too small. There may be a bit of a learning curve when learning to wrap your baby in a tight swaddle, but the payoff is definitely worth it. For example, many babies cries are caused by excess gas in the tummy, something that can be helped by swaddling. A proper swaddle will keep baby wrapped quite tightly, which keeps a gentle pressure on the entire tummy area, helping to dispell the gas more quickly.
One of the reasons babies sometimes can’t fall asleep easily is that they are unaccustomed to the feeling of freedom in their limbs; they prefer that tight, secure, snuggly sensation provided by their tightly wrapped swaddle blankets. The comforting wrap will feel like safety to them and will reward you, the parent, will peace and joy knowing that your infant is once again at peace with their surroundings.
Then when the little angels are calm and your peace returns to you then you can open up the amazing swaddle blanket and once again introduce space into the world of your infant. With your new found peace and your love the space can become bigger and bigger but when the need arises you can once again rely on the comfort and security of the perfect swaddle blanket and the miracle of peace will happen for you both.
