Late State Tax Return Forms for 2009, 2010
If you have missed the tax deadline for your state then now is the time to take care of it. The longer you wait the more this mistake could cost you.
You will need to use the same forms as if you filed on time and fill them out exactly the same way. If you end up with a large state tax bill that you cannot afford, then still send in your return. The IRS will then invoice you and possibly allow you to set up a payment plan.
How Much Will I Have to Pay?
Each state will have different fees associated with filing a late state tax return. If you are due a refund then more than likely you will receive your entire refund just a little late. If you owe the state money then you may be charged interest and penalties, depending on the amount you owe.
