Art T-Shirts
If you’re looking for a really cool online store, check out ResistToday.com. They have Art Tees made by independent artists. Their designs are nature-inspired.
I get compliments every time I wear one of their screen printed art t-shirts are inspired by nature. They use images and photos of branches, trees, leaves and vines and collage them into cool art. Then they screen print their art onto an American Apparel t-shirts (these shirts are soft, wear well and are made in the US).
Here’s a good quote from their web site. We’re interested in using products as a wearable and functional art medium. With so little public space available for art some of us turn to a street sign, abandon building or overpass; we think shirts and wallets are just as good of an art surface.
The things they do with their art is so awesome. They don’t care about getting their art into big, fancy galleries; they just want real people to connect with their art and images. I like that attitude because a lot of artists only want to make art (with a capital A) and that’s limiting for a lot of regular people. Some of us don’t care for the atmosphere of art shows and museums or galleries. So, it’s cool that there are artists and stores like Resist Today that cater to a different audience.
Some of their images remind me of a piece I saw in giant robot magazine and some t-shirts I’ve seen on karmaloop.
My favorite t-shirt design of theirs is called Veins of Thought, but they have a lot of cool designs on unique wallets, screen printed messenger bags and unique pillows! My sister’s boyfriend bought her this cute kitten t shirt.
